Shared note

"Lived At: England; Montreal and Ste Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Ryley and Three Hills, Alberta; California" "In Quebec Kate operated a boarding house, to help out with the expenses. In Milwaukee she kept house for a bachelor. While in Alberta she went to Three Hills to visit family friends John and Aunt Bess Rugguls, there she kept house for a widower. In California she kept house for her son Cyril and William Pope's nephew Ernie Frost unil they both got married. "Hobbies: Kate enjoyed reading, and doing things with young children. She would make cookies for the young ones, teach them to sew, knit, and crochet. Kate helped her granddaughter Marguerite make a dress for herself, which they sewed by hand. "Mother: One day Kate with her two children were travelling home by train, the children were tired and crying. A "lady" on the train asked Kate why her mother would send two small children with such a young girl. Kate told the lady that these were her children and that she had two more at home." -- Pope Family Chronicles, 2007
